Occupational Therapy and Sensory Assessment process and fees

· Once we receive your enquiry, we will contact you to discuss your requirements within the next 7 days (this may vary depending on capacity) - this is a free 15 minute consultation,

· Once your requirements are confirmed, the team will then send Butterflies Holistic Occupational Therapy Terms and Conditions and Fees,

· Read the Terms and Conditions and sign, then return the completed form,

· You will be sent the booking page link and you make the booking,

· Fees are paid within 5 days of making the booking, otherwise the booking is cancelled,

· You will be sent pre-assessment questionnaires, and standardised and non-standardised assessments to be completed prior to the face to face assessment,

· Assessments are completed, and a school visit arranged by Butterflies Holistic Occupational Therapy (if this is a requirement),

· The therapist completing the assessment will interpret and score up all the data,

· Full Comprehensive report is written and sent to you within 8 weeks,

Once you have read the report we can arrange a 30 minute telephone consultation to discuss.

FAQs

What is my child lacks communication skills? Can they still be assessed?

YES, we use a range of methods to assess your child including play, specialist equipment, observational skills, discussion with main caregivers / school / nursery.

If needed the assessment process can be completed over 2-3 sessions.

What does my child need to wear for the assessment?

Comfortable clothes, and bring a snack and drink.

How long is the assessment in the studio space?

Assessments can take between 2-3 hours - If needed you may be asked to return to complete the assessment.

When do l complete the paperwork for my child?

We will send out pre-assessment questionnaires / standardised and non-standardised assessments to be completed and returned prior to the assessment.

We will also send out a social story for you to use with your child (and yourself!) if needed. This shows pictures of the building and studio space.

Do you have toilet and parking facilities onsite?

YES we have toilets on site and we have two onsite parking spaces behind our building.

Do you have disabled access?

Although our studio is on the ground floor of the building, there are three steps to get into the main entrance of Devonshire House. There are no facilities for disabled access.

My child has allergies

Please let us know if your child or yourself has allergies and we will try to ensure that these products are not brought into the building that day.

Assessments and Intervention

We provide a wide range of assessments and interventions for private funded therapy, local authority and charity organisations. For full fee's please contact the team.

L1 Sensory Assessment and Functional Skills Assessment ONLY

This includes:

Sensory Assessment,
Functional Assessment of everyday skills such as cutlery use, and handwriting,
Report with clinical findings, and recommendations,
30 minute Zoom feedback
Allow up to 8 weeks for write up once all information for report is obtained.

L2 Full OT / Sensory Assessment - For EHCP (not for tribunal)

This includes:

Sensory Assessment,
School Observation (Mileage is 0.50p return plus travel time).
Full occupational history taken with main caregivers,
Full report with clinical findings and recommendations, young person's strengths, challenges and EHCP suggested outcomes,
30 minute Zoom feedback
This is not Tribunal Standard and is for initial EHCP and EHCP Reviews. We DO NOT complete Tribunal Reports with lawyers at this time.
Allow up to 8 weeks for write up once all information is obtained.

Joint Speech and Language / OT Assessment and Report

This includes:

SALT Assessment (and possible SALT sensory assessment).
Functional Assessment of everyday skills such as cutlery use, and handwriting,
Report with clinical findings, and recommendations.

We also offer a unique joint intervention pathway working together to develop speech and language, every days skills, and sensory processing.

Handwriting Assessment

This includes:

Assessment of handwriting, dressing, cutlery use, toileting and fine motor skills using standardised and non-standardised assessment,
Report with clinical findings and recommendations,
30 minute Zoom feedback,
Cost: please enquire.
This does not include intervention following assessment; intervention will incur additional charges.

1:1 Goal Setting Session

If you have a previous ASI / Sensory / OT Report (within 6 months), and want to come to us for 1:1 intervention we provide a 1x hour face to face goal setting session at a small cost to review skills, and goals. We then produce a short document with GAS goals, outcomes, and recommendations.

1:1 Therapy / Sensory Session

Come for a session at our dedicated therapy space in North Leeds.

We require 48 hours notice for any cancellations, if not we will charge the full price of the session.

School Readiness Group

A group to help your little ones get ready for the transition to school, promoting the development of the skills in the following areas:

Independent toileting skills
Dressing independently
Using a knife and fork
Emotional regulation and body awareness

6 x 60 minute sessions for children transitioning to a mainstream school who are able to cope with group situations.

School / Organisation day rate

This includes:

Highly specialist Occupational Therapist on site for the duration of the school day,
Assessment of environment and children's needs,
Provision and completion of standardised /non standardised assessments to identify children's difficulties,
Training / workshops to staff,
Reports,
Attendance in EHCP review meetings
*All write up to be allocated with the set time, additional work is charged at the hourly rate.

Organisation Training Sessions

Below are some workshop topics we present, we can also tailor workshops to meet the needs of the people you work with.

· Occupational Therapy in Schools, Developing Skills for life (Roughly 2 hours),

· What is Sensory Processing and how does it impact on learners? (Roughly 2.5 hours),

· How to Create Therapeutic Classrooms including developing Movement Breaks within a school (Roughly 1.5 hours).

Sessions are interactive with group work, resource provision and time to discuss potential cases.

How is therapy funded?

Privately Funded Therapy

Families and main caregivers self-fund assessment and intervention as required. This could include funding via private medical insurance.

Educational Health Care Plans

Butterflies OT has worked and does work with the local authority to provide recommendations agreed in children and young people's EHCPs.

School Input

Butterflies OT works with local schools and provides assessment and interventions to the children and young persons, and training and advice to main caregivers and staff as required.
