Once we receive your enquiry, we will contact you to discuss your requirements concerning the occupational therapy assessment within the next 7 days (this may vary depending on capacity). This initial consultation is free and lasts 15-30 minutes, during which a screening assessment will determine the most appropriate type of assessment for your young person, including a sensory assessment if needed.
Once your requirements are confirmed, the team will send you the Butterflies Holistic Occupational Therapy Terms and Conditions and Fees associated with your assessment.
Please read the Terms and Conditions and sign them, then return the completed form.
A member of our team will reach out to you to schedule your appointment.
Fees for the assessment are to be paid within 5 days of making the booking; otherwise, the booking will be canceled.
Prior to the face-to-face assessment, you will receive pre-assessment questionnaires and both standardised and non-standardised assessments to complete.
Assessments will be conducted, and if necessary, a school visit will be arranged by Butterflies Holistic Occupational Therapy.
The therapist who conducts the assessment will interpret and score all the gathered data.
A full comprehensive report will be written and sent to you within 4-6 weeks.
Once you have read the report, we can arrange a 30-60 minute online consultation to discuss it further.

What is my child lacks communication skills? Can they still be assessed?
YES, we use a range of methods to conduct an occupational therapy assessment for your child, including play, specialist equipment, observational skills, and discussions with main caregivers, school, or nursery. Additionally, if necessary, we can carry out a sensory assessment and the entire assessment process, including understanding assessment fees, can be completed over 2-3 sessions.
What does my child need to wear for the assessment?
Wear comfortable clothes, and don’t forget to bring a snack and drink during your occupational therapy assessment or sensory assessment, especially if there are assessment fees involved.
How long is the assessment in the studio space?
Assessments, including occupational therapy assessments and sensory assessments, can take between 2-3 hours. If necessary, you may be asked to return to complete the assessment, which may also involve assessment fees.
When do l complete the paperwork for my child?
We will send out pre-assessment questionnaires and standardized/non-standardized assessments to be completed and returned prior to the occupational therapy assessment. Additionally, we will provide a social story for you and your child to use if needed, which includes pictures of the building and studio space to help ease any concerns about the sensory assessment.
Do you have toilet and parking facilities onsite?
YES, we have toilets on site, and we have two onsite parking spaces behind our building, making it convenient for visitors coming for assessments, including occupational therapy assessments and sensory assessments. Please note that there are assessment fees associated with these services.
Do you have disabled access?
Although our studio is on the ground floor of the building, there are three steps to access the main entrance of Devonshire House, and unfortunately, there are no facilities for disabled access. Please note that we do have assessment fees associated with our occupational therapy assessment and sensory assessment services.
My child has allergies
Please let us know if your child or yourself has allergies, and we will ensure that allergens are not brought into the building that day. Assessments and Intervention
We provide a wide range of assessments and interventions for private funded therapy, local authority and charity organisations. For full fee's please contact the team.
L1 Specialist OT Assessment
This includes:
Sensory assessment,
Functional assessment of everyday skills such as cutlery use and handwriting,
MABC2 completed for the assessment of fine and gross motor skills,
Report with clinical findings and recommendations on occupational therapy assessment,
30-minute Zoom feedback.
Please note that assessment fees apply, and you should allow up to 4-6 weeks for the write-up once all information for the report is obtained.
L2 Specialsit OT- For EHCP (not for tribunal)
This includes:
Sensory assessment,
Range of standardized and non-standardized assessments used,
School observation (Mileage is £0.50 return plus travel time).
Full occupational history taken with main caregivers,
A comprehensive report detailing clinical findings and recommendations, highlighting the young person's strengths, challenges, and suggested outcomes for the EHCP.
30-minute Zoom feedback session.
Please note, this is not Tribunal Standard and is designated for initial EHCP and EHCP reviews.
Allow up to 4-6 weeks for the write-up once all information is gathered, considering the associated assessment fees.
Joint Speech and Language / OT Assessment and Report
This includes:
SALT Assessment (and possible SALT sensory assessment) with details on assessment fees. Functional assessment of everyday skills, such as cutlery use and handwriting, is also conducted. You will receive a comprehensive report with clinical findings and recommendations.
We also offer a unique joint intervention pathway, working together to develop speech and language, everyday skills, and sensory processing, tailored around your occupational therapy assessment.
1:1 Goal Setting Session
If you have a previous ASI / Sensory / OT Report (within 6 months) and wish to explore our 1:1 intervention services, we offer an affordable face-to-face goal-setting session for just one hour. During this session, we review your skills and goals, incorporating insights from your occupational therapy assessment and sensory assessment. Following this, we will provide a brief document outlining GAS goals, outcomes, and recommendations, including the associated assessment fees.
1:1 Therapy / Sensory Session
Come for a session at our dedicated therapy space in North Leeds, where we offer comprehensive occupational therapy assessments and sensory assessments. Please note that we require 48 hours' notice for any cancellations; otherwise, we will charge the full price of the session to cover our assessment fees.
School / Organisation day rate
This includes:
- A highly specialist Occupational Therapist on site for the duration of the school day,
- Assessment of the environment and children's needs,
- Provision and completion of occupational therapy assessments, including both standardised and non-standardised assessments to identify children's difficulties,
- Training and workshops for staff,
- Reports,
- Attendance in EHCP review meetings.
*All write-ups are allocated within the set time, and additional work is subject to assessment fees charged at the hourly rate.

Organisation Training Sessions
Below are some workshop topics we present, and we can also tailor workshops to meet the needs of the people you work with.
· Occupational Therapy in Schools: Developing Skills for Life (Roughly 2 hours), focusing on the holistic role of occupational therapy assessment in educational settings.
· What is Sensory Processing and How Does it Impact Learners? (Roughly 2.5 hours), which includes insights into conducting effective sensory assessments.
· How to Create Therapeutic Classrooms, including Developing Movement Breaks within a School (Roughly 1.5 hours).
All sessions are interactive, featuring group work, resource provision, and time to discuss potential cases, ensuring participants understand the significance of assessment fees related to these services.

Educational Health Care Plans
Butterflies OT has collaborated with the local authority to provide recommendations in children and young people's EHCPs, which may include assessment fees for occupational therapy assessments and sensory assessments.
